Biosketch of Felix M.
Arellano
Felix M Arellano is a physician with a specialty in clinical pharmacology
and a co-founder of Risk Management Resources. He was trained in
pharmacoepidemiology in McGill University and is a Fellow of the
International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology. He received a Diploma in
Pharmaceutical Medicine by the tri-state university in Basel, Switzerland.
Felix has held several positions in the areas of pharmacovigilance and
pharmacoepidemiology in pharmaceutical companies in Europe and the USA.
Felix is a Visiting Fellow at St. Vincent's Clinical School,
University of
New South Wales. He is currently serving his second elected term as
a member of the Board of Directors of the International Society for
Pharmacoepidemiology. He has authored or co-authored numerous
publications. Felix has worked with a variety of therapeutic agents in
several fields, including cardiovascular, infectious diseases,
ophtalmology, urology, respiratory, dermatology, arthritis & pain,
neurologic disease, immunosupressive agents, cancer and transplantation
(including xenotranplantation). Before founding RMR, he was the Chief
Safety Officer at Pharmacia Corporation.

Biosketch
of Alejandro Arana
Alejandro studied medicine at the
University of Zaragoza (1990) and specialized in Preventive Medicine
with a Master of Public Health of the Institute of Public Health of
Valencia University (1995), and a Master of Science in Epidemiology of
Erasmus University Medical School in Rotterdam (1995). Collaborated in
several international projects on the epidemiology of aging and dementia
at the University of Zaragoza and Erasmus University, and as advisor in
Washington DC (US) for the Pan American Health Organization AIDS project
in El Salvador. From 1996 worked for several pharmaceutical companies,
Novartis, Pharmacia and Pfizer. Responsible for conducting several
epidemiological projects, mainly in the areas of neurology and the
application of epidemiological methods to the quantitative analysis of
spontaneous reports. Collaborates sporadically with academia as invited
lecturer in Pharmacoepidemiology & Pharmacovigilance courses (London
School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Université St. Antoine, Paris,
Universidad de Barcelona). Is Fellow of the International Society of
Pharmacoepidemiology (FISPE), member of the Board of Directors of the
ISPE, and co-chair of the Industry council of ISPE.

Biosketch
of Charles E. Wentworth III
Chuck is a consultant in the
pharmaceutical industry specializing in the development and warehousing
of large databases and performing statistical analysis. He was trained
in statistics and mathematics from the University of Rhode Island and
Boston University. He started his career as an analyst with Epidemiology
Resources Inc. where he supported outcome and safety analysis using
large health claims databases and clinical data sets. The methodological
and database experience he gained at ERI propelled him to the position
of Senior Director R&D of the Bioinformatics Division of Quintiles
Transnational. Here, he was responsible for the development of analytic
products used by the pharmaceutical industry based on the in-house
proprietary pharmacy transaction database. He has worked as an
independent contractor since leaving Quintiles supporting large
pharmaceutical and biotech companies in database research and analytic
capacities.
